Branch Community Rooms: Available to Reserve 

Community rooms at various library locations are available to rent. 

Who Can Request a Reservation 

The San José Public Library is committed to providing access to community rooms for the following groups: 

  • Individuals or organizations directly associated with the City of San José or other government institutions 

  • Established nonprofit organizations, typically known as 501(c), with proof of non-profit status.   

  • Community-Based Organizations/Groups: Community-based organizations/groups without verified non-profit status that serve the residents of San José. 

Community rooms are made available for events which foster community engagement and support the library’s mission. Programs must be open to the public and free of charge.  

What's Included 

All reservations require prior approval from the library.  Reservations include tables and chairs. Community Rooms often have access to a sound system, microphones and podium at no extra charge. Amenities vary by location. For details about a specific branch location, select the community room you are interested in booking. Please contact the branch library for additional information. 

How Much Does It Cost 

Pricing varies depending on various factors. Renters are financially responsible for any damage, loss, or additional cleaning that results from use of these rooms.  

Government Agencies or City Affiliated Organizations: No charge.
Unaffiliated Non-Profit Organizations: $50 per use up to 4 hours; $100 per use over 4 hours.
Unaffiliated Community-Based Organizations/Groups: $100 per use up to 4 hours; $200 per use over 4 hours.

Cancellation Fee (within 72 hours of event): $35 per cancellation
Damage/Cleaning Fee: Actual cost per occurrence.
Lost Key Replacement Fee: $150 per key replaced.
Security Fee for False Alarms: Actual cost per occurrence, minimum $150, actual cost up to $500.

Health, Safety, & Policies 

The City of San José continues to evaluate programs and facilities in consideration of the health and safety of the community. All rental events at City of San José facilities must follow current City, county, and state public health guidelines.
